Yin Yoga focuses on several of the deeper connective tissues of the body, especially those located around the joints (spine, hips and shoulders) – with an eye to loading those tissues with the body’s weight without movement over time in order to relax them naturally without effort.
This process helps rehabilitate connective tissue to increase flexibility and ease of movement in the joints and to improve the flow of energy around the body. Yin Yoga poses are held for 2-10 minutes and are not an attempt to stretch the connective tissue with effort, but to allow them to relax and loosen on their own.
